TOP TIPS WHEN TRAVELING IN PERU:

  1. Tap water is not drinkable
  2. Carry black activated charcoal pills on you in case your stool gets loose.
  3. Use Hostelworld or booking.com for accommodations
  4. CHARLES SCHWAB DEBIT CARD (NO ATM FEES OR FOREIGN TRANSACTION FEES)
  5. Use MultiRed ATM for cash pullouts (no extra fees)
  6. T-MOBILE INCLUDES UNLIMITED INTERNATIONAL DATA USE (No need to change numbers when traveling to different countries!)
  7. Must try: CEVICHE! (MENU DEL DIA)

I would not recommend going here unless you want to spend time surfing. The beach is not great to swim in and overall, Máncora Beach is such a more lively, beachy city than Huanchaco. To get to Máncora, you can take a direct bus from here, Lima, or any other city.

Place of stay: PointBreafk Surf Hostel: 5/10. Friendly people but one of the worst beds I have ever slept on in my life. We actually slept with our heads at the foot of the bed because, on the other end, we would sink together and not have space.

Food:

  • Menu del Dia: This is your best bet for an amazing lunch or early dinner. Menu del Día is everywhere on the main road and…
