How to: Ignite Your Soul in Iguazú
Chelsey’s Backpacking Edition
NOTE (my 5 pointers to any backpacker in Argentina):
- less is more (don’t pack that extra shirt “just in case” or those extra sweatpants…and especially DON’T bother bringing the entire skincare routine…still struggling after 8 months to surrender and let my skin do the work on its own…)
- T-mobile phone plan if you're from the USA (covers you internationally so no need to change your phone number or pay extra fees)
- Charles Schwab debit card! No foreign transaction fees and every time you take money out of an ATM you get the ATM rebate fee back at the end of every month! BEST TRAVEL CARD THERE IS! NO STRESS ABOUT LOSING MONEY WHEN USING ATMS!
- Use ONLY AND ALWAYS Western Union for cash pullouts (double the rate with USD)
- Stay true to the Argentinean breakfast every day: cafe con leche y dos medialunas
Place of stay: The Host Bed & Meeting (Say hey to Sebastion, Bruno, and Pipi) Highly recommend staying here! Ask the staff to bring you to a club called Lebond Iguazú; We partied all night in sweatpants!
- you don’t need more than THREE days in Iguazú! I only did the Argentinean side…there are other sides but this is what I was called too.
- This was the first real hostel I ever stayed in. As I pulled up I realized I booked a 12-person mixed dorm room … I took a breath and remembered everything happens for a reason! Turned out it was just me and one other dude who actually gave me medicine because he heard me sniffling ❤
Dinner spots:
- Apiacere (#21 out of #112 restaurants in Iguazu): Great spot to try some local fish! This was a superb restaurant with superb service. If you wanna be even more funky, tell them it's your birthday and let the entire restaurant sing to you (don't feel bad about lying because, to be honest, every damn day is our “birth day” ;))
- Restaurante La Rueda 1975: What a spot this was! I also got the local fish and a salad. Sometimes being an American, we strive for these spectacular high-quality multi-veggie (LOL) salads but let me tell ya…this spot had that salad!!!! Great spot. enjoyed every bite of fish, salad, and local white wine….YUMMY
Activities:
- FULL DAY IGAUZÚ ARGENTINEAN SIDE TOUR: This tour was an ultimate slay. We got picked up super early, taken around Iguazu to different viewing points, and paid additional for a boat ride tour which I REALLY recommend.
- IceBar Iguazú: Amazing time, amazing music, amazing vibes. You pay a fixed rate and get around 30~ minutes in the zone with unlimited drinks and gear. Your drinks are served in a gigantic ice cube cup. It gets cold so won’t want more than the permitted time.
Extras:
- Are you a health girly like me too? Ideal Dietéica is a store in Iguazú that has all the produce and products you need to stay all “health girly mode.” heheheh
As always, follow your dreams, follow your callings, and listen to that soft gentle voice you hear inside you telling you to never give up. May your hands, heart, hands, and voice guide you to be the best version of yourself in this lifetime. Travel the world and don’t let anybody stop you.
Live to love and love to live.
